The Individual in SDP only needs to have a Purchase of Service with one vendor - the Financial Management Services (FMS)!!!
To support that Individual, you, as the Service Provider, would agree with the IPP Team on what services would be provided and define the terms (time, dates of service, cost, etc.). As much as this is an alternative way for Individuals to access their services, it is also a way for you, to expand your business in terms of services, days services are provided, and other logistics that traditional services may control.
This means the service agreement is between your agency and the IPP Team. As a Business, you would be billing and paid out as a "Bill Payer" Model. Once you agree to the terms of service, you will work with the FMS on their process for billing. Send in an itemized invoice with your services to the FMS, monthly for ongoing services or at the end of your services. The FMS will then process the invoice and pay you directly. The FMS is responsible for billing the regional center for the invoice and for being reimbursed for the total funds. No E-Billing to deal with. Each FMS handles this process a bit differently. You will need to communicate with the FMS, that the Individual is working with, to ensure their process and payment methods.
If you are a sole provider and the Individual would like to hire you to provide a service, then you would become an employee of the FMS. As an employee of the FMS, you will follow all its employment requirements for payment. The Individual will either be the "Co-Employer" of your employment or will be your "Sole Employer" of your employment. Please work with the Individual and the FMS to know which model each Individual has picked and follow their guidelines for each responsibility.
Unfortunately, there is no direct way to list your services that is specific to SDRC. However, an outside agency created a Search Engine—The SDP CA Network—that allows providers to list their services. Independent Facilitators (IFs), and individuals can look up services they are interested in obtaining. Click on the image to access the website.
